FREDERIC HENRI KAY HENRION (1914-1990) VISITOR'S LONDON. 1956.
39 3/4x24 1/4 inches, 101x61 3/4 cm. Waterlow & Sons Ltd., London.
Condition B+ / A-: minor repaired tears, creases and abrasions at edges and in image.
This is one of two collage-like posters designed by Henrion in 1956, both of which use iconic landmarks and humorous limericks to advertise promotional information for tourists, in this case for the booklet "Visitor's London." Here, in a hilarious pitch to French visitors, Henrion depicts a character lost in London, an upside-down Eiffel Tower suggesting both the visitor's confusion and place of origin. Henrion p. 126, Modern British p. 34, London Transport p. 193, Art For All p. 81.
