According to Hundertwasser with regard to his collaboration with Surishi, the master Japanese woodcut printer, "I am very happy and very honored that it was made possible for me, as I believe the first Western artist to be able to work together with Japanese woodcutters and printers and I hope I will not deceive them . . . I want to bring back to Japan the fruit of the wonderful piece that Japan has planted into the world and the tree has grown in the meantime and has changed color and form." Koschatzky 60.
