The Bremen, seen from water level, is heading toward New York Harbor. Winning the Blue Riband and beating the record held by The Mauretania on its 1929 maiden voyage to New York, The Bremen was one of three sister ships; the other two being The Europa and The Columbus. Although seen here approaching Manhattan's west side, The Bremen was initially too big to dock along the west shore and had to use the Brooklyn Army Terminal until better facilities were ready. When passengers complained about the extra ride, the line responded by saying, "You are that much closer to Europe when you sail on the Bremen or Europa!" This is the larger format.
