Condition A- / B+: creases and abrasions in margins and image; pencil notation in bottom left corner. Paper. Rehm was one of the few German artists represented in the Maitres de l'Affiche. This image of "Der Kenner" ["the Connoisseur"], was a prize-winning design in a poster competition sponsored by the Leipzig-based printing house, Grimme & Hempel. This image resonated throughout the advertising community, as can be seen in the manner in which it was copied, even in its own time (see lot 219).
