first appearance of this early frost poem. It was not included in the 1916 edition of Mountain Interval but did eventually appear in the Mountain Interval chapter in Collected Poems (1930). This rather obscure collection of poetry contains no advertisements and most of the contributors, other than Frost, are identified only by their initials. By explanation the Editor's statement notes: "The anonymity of contributors is preserved because the families and friends of some of our nearest poets evidence the same emotional reaction toward poetry that bulls exhibit toward a gay color commonly missing from their landscape."
