Family photograph album, consisting mostly of candid shots of the president's young grandson Theodore Roosevelt III; Theodore III's travel diary; his briefcase, and his scrapbook. Album: 128 photographs, various sizes, most of them mounted on 27 disbound scrapbook sheets along with a few newspaper clippings and other items, all housed in sleeves in a loose-leaf binder; the sheets are brittle and chipping, while the photographs are generally sound. Additional Details

Most of these photographs depict Theodore Roosevelt III (1914-2001) as an infant and young boy. Other principals in this album include his father Theodore Roosevelt Jr. (1887-1944), mother Eleanor (1888-1960), and siblings Grace (1911-1993), Cornelius (1915-1991), and Quentin (1919-1948). Many are captioned with date and place, including some at the family home at Council Rock and one page at nearby Sagamore Hill.
Included with the album is Theodore III's travel diary from New York across America to Japan, China, and the Philippines, with extensive travel memorabilia tipped in, 1932. 70 manuscript pages. In Hawaii, he writes: "Went surf-boarding at Moena on Waikiki. Got actually quite proficient, believe it or not. Son of Duke taught me" (7 July 1932). He stayed with Ambassador Grew in Japan (18 July). At a dance in Shanghai, "suddenly the lights all over town went out, including those at the Canidrome. There had been numerous Red demonstrations during the day, and everybody thought that it was they who had turned them out" (1 August). His parents joined him in Manila on 9 August.
