Fischart was a satirist who compiled these short works on the subject of marriage. Other texts published here are by Antonio de Guevara and Plutarch, from his familiar epistles. The woodcuts by Tobias Stimmer were purchased by the current printer from Bernhard Jobin, who originally commissioned them.
