First edition in German, engraved title, twelve half-page calendar engravings, extra engraved title to second part, bound in very good contemporary blind tooled alum-tawed pigskin over wooden boards, lacking one clasp, worming to boards, some browning, edges stained blue, 8 x 6 1/4 in.

This interesting practical treatise translated from the original Latin Pars Prima Decas Georgica X in two parts in 1679 and 1683 covers estate management in great detail. The first part contains chapters on everything from managing fields, stocking fishing ponds, brewing beer, beekeeping, managing orchards and kitchen gardens, to forestry, and barnyard animals. In part two, the author's attention turns to the work of the account, lawyer, and archivist, suggesting office supplies (parchment, quills, scissors) and tips for organizing records. Try Fischer's forty-seven compartment cubbyhole system as illustrated in a typographical table on page twenty-one, part two.
