In the printer's letter to the reader, de Tournes describes the organization of this "livret." The images are presented with brief explanatory verses to facilitate a better understanding of the Christian and Catholic tenets of faith, "pour recreacion à l'oeil, ayde à la memoire, & contentement à l'esprit."
