Single sheet of laid paper inscribed, "Sarah Margaret Fuller, New York, 24th August 1846," matted and housed in a half leather red morocco folding case with velvet lining, strips of paper from an old mount mounted to verso, old folds, 6 1/4 x 4 1/4 in.
Fuller made an Atlantic crossing in August of 1846, arriving in Liverpool just before the date on the current piece. She was working for The Tribune, edited by Horace Greeley, and her first letter back to New York is dated August 23, 1846.
