FÉLIX BRACQUEMOND
Charles Meryon.

Heliogravure, 1853. 195x145 mm; 7 3/4x5 3/4 inches, full margins. A very good impression of this extremely scarce portrait.

Bracquemond (1833-1914) was one of four artists to contribute prints to the first Impressionist exhibition in Paris in 1874; one of which was his etched portrait of fellow printmaker Charles Meryon. Bracquemond also exhibited a selection of photomechanical prints he had made after his etchings, similar to the current work, thereby displaying his wide, and very contemporary, range of printmaking skills.

There is another impression of this heliogravure in the print collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, formerly in the Heseltine collection (accession number 1935-06-03). cf. Beraldi 77.
