G. SANDRECZKI UNDERGROUND / THE SCIENCE MUSEUM.
391/2x25 inches. Baynard Press, London.
Condition B+: repaired tears and creases in margins; creases and staining in image.
A collage of different early modes of transportation and the engines that powered them, on exhibition at the Science Museum. The London Underground, under the direction of Frank Pick, "rarely used posters for direct hard-sell advertising . . . [they] only rarely showed the method of travel, and concentrated mainly on the destination" (Underground p. 10). London's Science Museum, which took over its South Kensington location in 1909, has three major divisions: Naval and Marine Engineering (including an Aeronautics collection), Machinery and Inventions, and Scientific Apparatus.
