"Mr. Gallatin has the honor to return to Sir Charles Stewart the Map of America. The straight line, along the 49th degree of N. Latitude, from the Lake of the Woods to the top of the Stony Mountains, is that which was fixed by the Convention of October last. The boundary from those Mountains to the Pacific Ocean has not yet been determined by any mutual agreement. "Mr. Gallatin requests Sir Charles Stuart to accept the assurance of his high consideration."
