garvey and the u.n.i.a's official organ in exile. The Blackman, was largely written by Garvey himself. The lead article in this issue is a rather harsh critique of W.E.B. Du Bois. Other articles include an obituary for William Monroe Trotter, "The Challenge" extolling the Japanese who like their German counterpart were spreading their influence geographically in a prelude to WWII; Centenary of Negro Emancipation, marking Emancipation in the West Indies. The remaining eight articles were all written by Garvey: Negro Psychology, The Negro Race, The West Indian Negro, etc. quite rare, only one holding of the first year of this is located by oclc, at temple university in philadelphia.
