first edition, issue with Flesher/Morden imprint, of a compilation containing the second edition of Gassendi's 1647 Institutio, a textbook of astronomy comparing the Tychonic and Copernican theories; the third edition of Galileo's 1610 Sidereus Nuncius, describing and illustrating the first astronomical observations made with a telescope; and the second edition of Kepler's 1611 Dioptrice, on the optics of lenses, particularly as applied to the telescope.
