GEORGE BRECHT, ALISON KNOWLES AND ROBERT WATTS
Blink.

Screenprint and synthetic polymer paint on canvas, 1963. 463x463 mm; 18x18 inches.

In 1963, the Fluxus artists Alison Knowles, Robert Watts and George Brecht collaborated in the Sissor Bros. Warehouse, Ralph Nelson Gallery, Los Angeles, event commonly referred to as BLINK. This resulting commemorative eighteen inch square print with paint consisted of three images chosen at random, one selected by each artist. The image appeared on everything from canvases to bathing suits and hair brushes, and were sold at flea markets. The are additional versions of this work in The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.

Provenance: Likely acquired directly from one of the artists, New York, by Norman Dolph, New York; thence by descent to the current owner.
