Additional Details

first edition in book form. The final summary of the life's work of influential single-tax advocate Henry George, published shortly after his October 1897 death. The 1899 inscription by his son and biographer explains the extreme scarcity of this printing: "This volume, one of a very small edition, printed solely for copyrighting purposes from linotype slugs made by the New York journal when the book was published in the columns of that newspaper, during the winter of 1897-8, is presented to my father's friend and my friend, Mr. S.S. Chamberlain." Samuel Selwyn Chamberlain was then editor of the New York Journal. None known at auction, and 2 complete copies found in OCLC, though the Library of Congress has the first 56 pages.
