Lynes (1907-1955) was a celebrated portait and fashion photographer of 1930s and 1940s (during the late 1940s he ws chief photographer for the Vogue studios. A friend of Cadmus, Jared and Margaret French, and Tooker, Lynes (1907-1955) often photographed them and also encourgaed their photography (Cadmus and the Frenches formed a photographic collaborative known as PaJaMa, taking posed, artistically lit photographs, which were printed in small numbers and mostly shared among friends).
