C." in pencil, lower margin. Printed by Visat, Paris. Published by Maeght, Paris. A very good impression of this important print.
Only a handful of impressions were printed in 1911 and the plate was subsequently reworked, steel-faced and printed from in 1950 in an edition of 50. The signature on this impression is the same as that on the 1950 edition and not like the smaller, tighter signatures on the early printings.
A similar hors commerce impression was offered at Sotheby's, New York, May, 1995, lot 287. Vallier 7.
