GEORGES BRAQUE
Etude de Nu.

Etching and drypoint on imitation Japan paper, 1907-8. 275x197 mm; 10 7/8x7 3/4 inches, full margins. A brilliant, richly-inked and early proof impression of this extremely scarce etching (before the later edition of 55 published by Maeght). Signed in pencil, lower right. With all the fine lines and details distinct and with no sign of wear, characteristic of the earliest impressions of this subject.

The artist's first print; after an initial printing of only several trial proofs in 1907-8, Maeght published an edition of 25 impressions on Auvergne and 30 impressions on Rives in 1953. Vallier 1.
