According to Vallier, the title derives from the name (Fox) inscribed in the plate, which was a bar near the Saint-Lazare station in Paris where Apollinaire and his artist friends would meet (Vallier p. 19). This is also the artist's largest intaglio plate and one of two early, Cubist works published by Kahnweiler. Vallier 6.
