The Almanach was a guide to Paris published by Ed. Sagot. Here, de Feure's impeccably-dressed young lady is using the guide to explore the city - finding herself at an art exhibition. She is alone in a crowd of men who are depicted darkly and monochromatically in the background. One of them appears to be staring at her, but she stands almost defiantly in the foreground.
