Georges Lepape was the most important and talented fashion illustrator in Paris during the Art Deco era and has become a visual synonym for that stylish period. His first major client was the couturier Paul Poiret, for whom he designed "Les Choses de Paul Poiret Vues par Lepape" in 1911. Poiret, the king of haute couture, put both of his daughters into business. For the youngest, he opened the "Atelier Martine" that designed Art Deco objects. For his older daughter, he founded the "Rosine Perfume Company," creating a range of perfumes long before Chanel launched her historical "n. 5" in 1921. To promote her perfumes and cosmetics, Rosine followed in her father's footsteps and turned to Lepape, who designed charming images for her. Here, Lepape stylishly alludes to the fashion world by using the shape of a fan to advertise Rosine beauty products.
