GEORGES LEPAPE (1887-1971)
"L'Antipodiste." Relief in plaster and marbles for unknown fashion publication, c. 1930. Plaster, glass, and poster paint. 16 x 12 inches. Signed in bottom left image.

Georges Lepape made use of every available technique and medium for his illustrations. He created this work by forming a bas-relief in modeling clay, cast in plaster, painted, with inlays of glass particles, and photographed for print. This is probably one of Georges Lepape's earliest relief models.
