GEORGES LEROUX (1877-1957) EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE / PALAIS DE L'OPTIQUE. 1900.
31 1/4x23 1/4 inches, 79 1/2x59 cm. Charle Verneau, Paris.
Condition B+ / B: repaired tears at edges, some affecting image; creases and abrasions in margins and image; vertical and horizontal folds; time-staining in margins; repaired pin holes in upper right corner; top and bottom margins slightly trimmed.
Georges Leroux studied with Bonnat and had a successful career as an academic painter, ultimately winning the coveted Prix de Rome in 1906. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only poster he designed. This poster advertises the large telescope that was housed in the Palace of Optics, which Leroux depicts in the background. This is the smaller format. Gold 187.
