Additional Details

An early version of Gershwin's Second Rhapsody was performed and recorded in June of 1931, but the final work was first performed at Boston's Symphony Hall on January 29, 1932; the New York premiere was at Carnegie Hall on February 5, 1932, conducted by Serge Koussevitzky with Gershwin himself performing as solo pianist.
