Additional Details

Gifford Beal was a prominent American painter who studied under William Merritt Chase and was also significantly influenced by Childe Hassam. After taking classes of Impressionist painting at the Art Students League, Beal served as their president from 1914 to 1929. He found inspiration not only in spectacle and pageantry but also in the natural and everyday side of life.
