Additional Details

A handsome and important satirical image, certainly one of Gillray's most famous. Gillray clearly illustrates the avarice of Napoleon and Pitt, with the former carving off the Continent and the latter settling on the Ocean and the Western Hemisphere. BM Satires 10371; Wright, page 316.
