Etching on India collé, 1929. 238x294 mm; 9 1/2x11 1/2 inches, wide margins. First state (of 2). Signed and numbered 18/40 in pencil, lower margin. Ex-collection private collection, Connecticut, gifted from private collection, Milan, thence by descent to the current owners. A superb, dark and richly-inked impression of this extremely scarce, early etching, with strong contrasts and no sign of wear.
This etching relates to one of three important oil still lifes that Morandi painted in the late 1920s and exhibited in the 1931 Quadriennale, Rome.
