Pen and dark brown ink on cream laid paper mounted on cream laid paper. 275x422 mm; 11x165/8 inches. Ex-collection P. Huart (?) (Lugt 2086), verso on the mount.

This work is similar to, with variations and in reverse of, a drawing in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, inv. #80.3.292 (see Bean, 17th Century Italian Drawings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1979, p. 191, catalogue 252). Similar landscapes with rocky outcroppings are also present in Guercino drawings at Chatsworth (see inventory numbers 530, 532, 537 and 545).
