GIULIO FERRARI TRIPOLI - LIBIA. 1936.
391/2x27 inches. A. Marzi, Rome.
Condition B+: repaired tears and creases in image; restoration along vertical and horizontal folds.
The capital and chief port of Libya, not to be confused with the city of the same name in Lebanon, looms large in the annals of military history. From 1801-05, the new United States of America went to war with Tripoli, which reverted to Ottoman rulership in 1835. As a result of the 1911-12 Turko-Italian War, Italy took control of the country. Libya became one of the major battlegrounds in North Africa during the Second World War. Orientalist p. 89.
