Giuseppe Valeriani (1710-1761) worked together with his brother Domenico as a landscape, architectural and theater-painter in Italy, mainly in Venice. In 1742, he traveled to St. Petersburg, where he became the favorite painter of Czarina Elisabeth, for whom he decorated many rooms.
