GLENEAGLES. Circa 1924. 39 1/4x59 3/4 inches. Dobson, Molle & Co., Edinburgh. Condition B+: restoration along vertical and horizontal folds; creases in image. The Gleneagles hotel and golf resort was the brainchild of Donald A. Matheson, the General Manager of the Caledonian Railway (his name appears on the poster) after spending a holiday in the area in 1910. Construction on the Gleneagles hotel began before the the First World War but wasn't completed until 1924. There were two courses, which opened before the hotel, designed by James Braid and Major C. K. Hutchison, the Kings and the Queens (intended as a ladies course).
