"I wish to thank you most sincerely for your wonderful letter. I can assure you that I have never before been so honored and delighted by kind words about my work. It is of the greatest satisfaction that this complement should take the form of a comparison to the vast artistry and accomplishment of your father. . . . ". . . I thank you for your letter which will remain a treasured possession for the rest of my life." In his undated letter to Gould, to which the present letter is the reply, Busoni wrote, "[A]lthough your style differs, it is closest to the one of my father . . .
