GUILLERMO LABORDE (1886-1940)

1ER CAMPEONATO MUNDIAL DE FOOTBALL URUGUAY. 1930.

32½x16½ inches, 82½x42 cm.
Condition A: small repaired tears and minor restoration at edges. Framed.

Laborde was an Uruguayan painter, sculptor and designer. This is his most famous poster. He was founder of the "pianissimo" movement, in which bright colors are used to delineate the geometric planes which comprise the image, and it seems this rule also guided his hand in graphic design. This poster was also printed in a version without blue, and in only black and white with text variations.
