The Nordic Games were winter sports competitions that were to be held in the different parts of the region starting in 1901. Eventually the competitions were only held in Sweden, and can be said to be the forerunner of the Olympic Winter Games. Gunnar Widholm was a sports cartoonist during the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, leading him to become an international newspaper cartoonist. This same skiing image of a man descending the slopes was made into a bronze medal for the Nordic Games.
