GUSTAV KROLLMANN (1888-1962) NORTH COAST LIMITED. Circa 1930. 40x30 inches. Condition B+: minor losses, tears, discoloration and staining in margins, not affecting image. Faded. Paper. The Northern Pacific's North Coast Limited route was established in the 1880s. Here in greens, blues and browns, Engine #2607 (no doubt a personal favorite of Krollmann's as it appears in several of his posters) is seen steaming through the Montana Rockies. Little is known about Krollmann except that he was of Austrian descent and that he settled in Minneapolis where he taught at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Zega p. 84.
