Color woodcut with aluminum leaf on paper, 1916. 320x345 mm; 12 1/2x13 1/2 inches, full margins. Second edition (of 2). Signed, titled and numbered "II 18/125" in pencil, lower margin (the combined intended editions were 245, though approximately only 150 impressions total were printed from both editions). A superb, richly-inked impression of this very scarce woodcut with vibrant colors.
According to Chamberlain, "Silver Sky is another fine example of Baumann's (1881-1971) use of aluminum leaf as a backdrop to the Southwest landscape. The leaf creates the illusion of a luminous New Mexico sky during a later spring shower." Acton 116; Chamberlain 147.
