GUY ARNOUX (1890-1951) GALA DU COMMERCE ET DE L'INDUSTRIE. 1937.

Arnoux was a prolific book illustrator. The few posters he designed generally fall into one of two design styles: images d'epinal, naive, traditionalist woodcuts focusing only on a subject's positive qualities, and this, a more modernist, Art Deco style. For this gala for the HEC, Hautes Etudes Commerciales, the most prestigious French Business School, Arnoux depicts the mighty ziggurat of the HEC rising above trade and industry and literally illuminating all below it.
