Folio format manuscript in Italian on laid paper; executed in an attractive cursive hand, in brown ink, consisting of 173 numbered and inscribed pages; containing the first part of Giraffe's history of the conflict in Naples; bound in modern half parchment and printed waste-covered boards, 11 1/8 x 8 1/4 in.
From October 22, 1647 to April 5, 1648, the Neapolitan Republic was established as a result of a successful revolt in the Kingdom of Naples led by Italian fisherman turned revolutionary Masaniello (1620-1647) and Giulio Genoino (b. circa 1565) on behalf of the Third Estate and against King Philip III.
