Additional Details

Cooper's letter reads in part: "The crew patch enclosed with this letter was carried into space on the Gemini XII mission during November 11 to 15, 1966. I was back-up commander for the flight crew of James Lovell and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin. We finally figured out how to do spacewalks right by the time of this flight and Buzz performed his assigned tasks beautifully."
