first edition. inscribed and signed by mountaineer clarence king, the first director of the United States geological survey, to H. M. Olmsted. Hall's second search for Franklin survivors took him to Repulse Bay, the Melville Peninsula and King William Island. It was a notable expedition as he was among the first explorers to live among the Eskimo and use native methods for travel and survival.
