The court martial consisted of two cases. In the first, Robert Steward, John Pain and Ebenezer Root plead guilty to concealing themselves with the intent to escape and are sentenced to "fifty stripes on their naked Backs." In the second more complicated case, several prisoners are accused of setting fire to the prison, and after a discussion of the testimony of several witnesses, John Kinney is found guilty and sentenced to "100 stripes on his naked back."
