HANS SEBALD BEHAM (after)
Adam and Eve.

Woodcut, circa 1525. 345x257 mm; 13 5/8x10 1/4 inches, small to thread margins. Ex-collection Friedrich August II (Lugt 971, lower right recto); and Holtkott, ink stamp verso (not in Lugt). A very good impression of this scarce print.

We have not found another impression, of either the Beham woodcut, or one of the several woodcuts of this subject after Beham, at auction in the past 20 years. Pauli notes an impression of one of the woodcuts after Beham (P 687 a), in Dresden which was formerly also in the collection of Friedrich August II. cf. Pauli 687.
