[4 January 1908]: "A last word by pilot boat. Letters rec'd from you . . . Hope, Ruth . . . sent us off in good spirits. Wish you were all going with us. Beautiful basket of fruit from H & A. candy from Mr. A. flowers from Kathryn. . . . W."
3 February 1910: "We are well & enjoying our trip. We see many strange & interesting sights and are becoming quite familiar with tropical fruits & vegetation. Pretty warm but comfortable at sea. . . . W."
