From the top of the Empire State Building, "the lighted avenues below seem to mimic rail lines like those in many classic French railway posters, turning the terrace of the building into a romantic caboose at the back of the train" (New York p. 77). One of the rarest and most spectacular of the mid century New York travel posters. The image was also used on the cover of train timetables.
