Harry B. Neilson was a prolific English book and magazine illustrator who was known for his animal and hunting scenes. He also designed many postcards including this popular series of birds enjoying the Christmas holidays. The first two are titled 'Returning Home from Christmas Market' and 'Hard Times and Great Expectations!,' the latter no doubt referring to Charles Dickens as the birds gaze longingly at the Christmas pudding in the window. The third was cut out and mounted on yellow card.
