An early, modern painting by artist Hartwell Yeargans who studied painting and drawing at the New York City's Art League under Morris Kantor from 1948 to 1951. He received his bachelor's degree from Goddard College in Vermont and later became the instructor for Printmaking at the Brooklyn Museum as well as the instructor of Drawing and Printmaking at Parsons School of Design. Yeargans lived and worked in Copenhagen, exhibiting his work in Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Chicago and Washington DC. He was heavily involved in the arts as well as music, collaborating with musicians such as Duke Ellington in the Festival of the Art, Long Island University, New York.
