Additional Details

"Too badly wounded Sept 14th 1862 at South Mountain to take part in the battle of Antietam Sept 17, 1862, I was in a house so near Antietam that the windows were shaken by the concussion of the cannon firing all day.
"Gen Morgan did not surrender to me. I was not within one hundred miles of his surrender at the time it took place.
"My command took part in the operations which prevented Morgan escaping across the Ohio River at Pomeroy and their action was essential--but this was days, perhaps a week or two before the final capture. . . ."
