Titles include The Whale Hunters, The Rumrunner's Sister-in-Law, Nutmeg Factory Connecticut and The Sailor's Return, among others. Although best known for his illustrations and cartoons depicting the Roaring Twenties, Held was an accomplished artist. His early medium of choice was the woodblock and linoleum cuts. These woodcut cartoons appeared in The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, as well as Life Magazine.
